Avon Barksdale is the character played by Wood Harris in the hit HBO drama series The Wire. The full name of the character is Avon Randolph Barksdale and is apparently the biggest and most ruthless drug dealer in Baltimore. Avon Barksdale is the leader of Barksdale Organization the biggest, ruthless and most violent drug crew in Baltimore Maryland. In both seasons one and three most episodes had to do with Avon Barksdale’s Barksdale Organization. Avon Barksdale is the boss of the organization that deals drugs in the area autonomously. In the end of season one however, the king pin gets arrested. Even when in prison Avon Barksdale keeps running the organization and manages to evade rival gangs more trouble with the police as well as a power struggle from within the organization. The writers of HBO series the Wire have created a character who has a temper and is concerned with his image. In the early years of Avon Barksdale he was entangled in criminal activities and gangs. In the wire on HBO he has intuitive survival instincts from an early age. I really enjoy watching the Wire on HBO. HBO has aired very good programs like The Wire and many others. Avon Barksdale currently is one of my favourite TV characters.
