Allison Ahlfeldt is a member of the United States first ever sitting volleyball Paralympics team. The team was put together for the Greek Olympics in Athens 4 years ago. All the players from the sitting volleyball Paralympics team had qualified for the Paralympics by beating Brazing in Argentina and thus winning the all American the Para Pan American games. Allison Ahlfeldt is in a sitting volleyball team. The game is played by athletes sitting on the floor. Most of them are disabled and are either amputees or have suffered paralysis from polio. Another difference with regular volleyball is the height of the net. In sitting volleyball the net is about 3 feet high. Allison Ahlfeldt is a member of the sitting volleyball Paralympics team which is part of the US Paralympics committee.
Allison Ahlfeldt’s right leg has an undeveloped thighbone. She is the first ever female that joined the men’s sitting volleyball team. She had to deal with the Paralympics games committee of 2000 who wanted to take her off the men’s sitting volleyball team. Allison Ahlfeldt did not get deterred. She was taken off the team but her spirits were high. She spent four years trying to organize things and put pressure on the paralympic games comitee to form a womens team. Allison Ahlfeldt was unsuccessful in the end, she managed to form the team that competed in the 2004 Paralympic Games. Allison Ahlfeldt and the rest of the team won a bronze medal in the Olympics. It is athletes like these this country needs more of. Not highly paid primadonnas. Athletes like Allison Ahlfeldt. Vote for
