Colin Goodier from New Orleans a cyclist who was riding his bike on Louisiana Highway 75 north of Louisiana 327 was hit and killed by a pick up truck. The truck struck Colin Goodier’s bicycle from behind.
The driver claims that he didn’t see the cyclists, he briefly looked away from the road. According to police, Colin Goodier was 29 years old, the driver of the truck was from Baton Rouge. Emergency crews arrived at the accident scene almost immediately and airlifted the victim to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He suffered from serious injuries and was pronounced dead a few minutes later. The driver was arrested and is facing charges of negligent homicide, careless operation of a vehicle and regarding a suspended driver’s license. It’s a tragedy to hear of events like these. An other young man lost from a split second of carelessness. Colin Goodier, like every other young person who loses their life on accidents like these should be a wake up call for every driver out there. Many drivers are not careful when they drive. There should be extra care demonstrated when driving in areas with bicycles. Municipalities and towns should create bicycle lanes for cyclists and there should be extra educational courses regarding driving and how to deal with cyclists. It was a preventable tragedy, unfortunately, one more young man, Colin Goodier was killed.
