A series of huge storms left at least 6 dead in Michigan and Indiana. The high powered winds caused damage and left thousands of people powerless. After the winds followed the rain. The heavy rains started falling within a few seconds and causing flash floods in a few places.
According to the National Weather Service, fortunately there haven’t been any reports of twisters landing. Consumers energy, DTE energy reported that as of this morning almost 140,000 customers remain without power. The company is hoping to restore power by sometime tomorrow. Although the worst has passed, dte consumer energy customers should expect delays since there are more storms in the forecast for today. The damage was extensive in Detroit, the high winds ravaged homes and trees, snapped power lines and fried electrical transformers throughout the city’s power network. Wind gusts of 80mph were reported in some areas. Consumer Energy has stated that they will be doing their best to restore power for their customers.
